and I am loving it so far. I really enjoyed Everything Is Illuminated, and I'm excited to read another book by him! He can make me laugh out loud and cry all within one chapter. For bookclub with my coworkers:

I'll be reading this one off and on for the next 3 years (millions of pages people)

I finished The Hunger Games (well the first one) and really- I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. I'm a fan of dystopian novels (Bradbury & Atwood), but maybe that's the problem- Im comparing it to my favorites. Interesting premiss, love the strong female lead- but that love story. gag. I'm going to read the other two before I pass a final verdict on these.
I'd love to get book suggestions- so send them my way!
you should try out The History of Love by Nicole Krauss (JSF's wife). I didn't like it as much as Extremely Loud (which is in my top five favorite books), but I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeletealso, have you read The Book Thief or I Capture the Castle? love those ones. I also keep wanting to read Unbroken but haven't yet.
Stop at the first one of the Hunger Games. I enjoyed the first two and wasn't a fan of the other two. If you weren't a big fan of the first one I am sure you won't like the others... especially the love story part it reminded me of the twilight love story. I loved extremely loud and incredibly close and want to read more of his work!
ReplyDeleteAh I've been meaning to read Extremely Loud and... and Everything is Illuminated but I couldn't get through reading either title. just kidding, I just haven't gotten around to them but I need to.
ReplyDeleteI second Megan on both of those. Both so good.
The Hunger games sappy love story only gets worse. Warning. And by the end you'll want to jump into that dome and murder katniss yourself because she is gagging you with her lame love triangle.
I loved the Hunger Games! Then again, I'm a sucker for fun tween reads;) You know the movies are going to be so good...
